Make & Take – 4 Part Series

Wabash Community Event

Create a new experience every week, for the month of April, with your child! An instructor will guide you through each activity! Families will be able to bring their child in and make a craft, and then take it home. Join us on April 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 1:30-2:30 pm at the Wabash County YMCA. Lagro: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Lagro is a tiny town nestled on the banks of the Wabash River. We’ll learn a bit of its rich history, its recent progress, and hopes for the future from Lavonne Sparling, retired Wabash County educator

and current resident of Lagro, and Richard Monce, Lagro Town Council President.

Dakota Parker

Dakota Ray Parker performs many varieties of music including classic country (Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash), some classic rock (Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen), Folk music (The Avett Brothers, Bob Dylan, Tom T Hall), Elvis Presley, Adele, Justin Bieber and so much more. He also writes his own music with more than 35 original songs. He won The Voice of Wabash County in 2018 and opened for Aaron Barker at the Eagles Theater.

Yoga Flow Class: All Skill Levels Welcome

An instructor from Fusion Yoga, Fort Wayne travels to teach a yoga flow class for all levels of participants. It is held upstairs in the studio of Wabash Valley Dance Theater (58 W. Canal St. Wabash, IN).

It is $20 drop-in or $60 monthly fee. You can pay cash or online at www.wabashvalleydance.org.

Lunch & Learn – Paper Sack Garden Journal

Pack a lunch and join us on select Wednesdays for fun and free presentations and workshops in the Education and Resource Center.

Paper sacks aren’t just for brown-bagging anymore. Join us as we turn this ordinary item into a decorative journal for noting your gardening journey. $10 per person. Spots are limited so buy early!

Abbie Thomas

Wabash Community Event

Influenced by an eclectic mix, from The Beatles and Karen Carpenter, to Lauren Hill and John Mayer, singer songwriter with a pop-soul flair, Abbie Thomas mixes catchy melodies with hard-hitting, life inspired lyrics. She was a songwriting finalist at The Acorn Theater in June 2019, and is now building a resume as an opening act for touring musicians (ex. Callaghan, Billy Gilman). Thomas released her first of a series of singles, “Those 3 Words” in April 2020, available on iTunes and Spotify. In May 2022, she released her first self-produced EP “Dirty Little Things.”

BUSINESS OWNERS WORKSHOP: Adapting & Planning in Uncertain Times

Downtown Wabash, Inc., Manchester Alive, Grow Wabash County and WEOC (Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center)

This informative workshop is meant for business owners to learn how to plan for the unexpected, helping reduce risk for their business. All businesses and their owners are exposed to risk every day, some minor and some with catastrophic consequences. However, there are steps that business owners and their employees can take to mitigate, transfer, and even avoid risks.

Proper contingency planning, education and documentation of process can allow businesses, their owners, and employees to recover from interruptions more effectively and efficiently. This planning can help also expand through the business to strengthen their day-to-day operations.

Presented By: Purdue University Institute of Family Business and in partnership with Downtown Wabash, Inc., Manchester Alive, and Grow Wabash County.

This training is provided at no charge through NIIC Community Navigator Pilot Program. Purdue Extension Allen County serves as a Spoke Organization for the program, to serve entrepreneurs in Northeast Indiana.

Gourmet Dinner & Chamber Music Series – Norma Meyer, Pianist

Norma Meyer is back! The Wabash favorite from Wabass and A Grand Time will present a solo recital featuring Bach E major Partita # 6 and Ibert Histoires. Norma was a founding member of quartet piano4 and a school orchestra director for over 20 years. She continues her lifelong commitment to music education through teaching and outreach programs as an accompanist and collaborative coach.

Menu: watercress salad with honey vinaigrette, chevre cheese, and crispy beets; roasted duck breast with strawberry port reduction; smashed potatoes; asparagus; and a poached pear for dessert. Coffee, tea, and water are included, with other beverages available for purchase. Menus can be modified for dietary restrictions. Please call 260.563.1102 at least two weeks prior to the event to request a special menu.
