Annual Themed Art Competition Exhibit

This juried competition was created over 15 years ago with the goal of keeping art interesting. Every year, a new “theme” challenges artists to create new and engaging works of art. Unlimited creativity is encouraged, and all media is welcomed to be submitted. The 2025 theme is Seasons, and artists are invited to explore the rich tapestry of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Celebrating the ever-changing nature of our world through your unique artistic vision.

The Thursday Parlay: Sharp Creek History

Join us for coffee and a treat, provided by our sponsor Bob Evans Restaurant and Imagine One 85. Oren Guenin will share the story behind the creation of MSD’s Sharp Creek Elementary School and reflect on his time as principal from 1980 to 2010. He’ll discuss how the school’s location, name, design, and staff helped shape a unique learning environment full of fun and growth. Now retired, Oren is watching new classrooms rise next to Northfield and plans to be there when the current Sharp Creek building is demolished in 2026. A LaFontaine High School graduate (Class of 1962), Oren earned his education and administration degrees from Ball State. “The Thursday Parlay” will take place from 10 to 11:30 am on Thursday, August 7th. This is a free event brought to you by the Wabash County Museum.

The Beat Goes On: Cher Tribute

In 2023, at the Grand Ole Opry, Lisa McClowry won Tribute Artist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards for her portrayal of Cher in The Beat Goes On. This Broadway-style show celebrates six decades of Cher’s legendary career, featuring hits like “I Got You Babe,” “If I Could Turn Back Time,” “Believe,” and songs from her Dancing Queen album. With spot-on vocals, costumes, and mannerisms, McClowry perfectly captures Cher’s essence, delivering an unforgettable live experience.

Ozark Mountain Daredevils

Since 1971, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils have been known for their unique blend of country rock and electric bluegrass. With hits like “If You Wanna Get to Heaven” and “Jackie Blue,” their timeless songs, including “Chicken Train” and “Standing On The Rock,” have resonated across generations. Having toured extensively in North America and Europe, the Daredevils continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Their latest album, Off the Beaten Path, showcases their continued evolution as songwriters and musicians.

The Robert Cray Band: Out Driving Around Tour

From sharing stages with legends like B.B. King and The Rolling Stones, blues icon Robert Cray’s journey spans five decades of soulful melodies and electrifying guitar riffs. With five GRAMMY Awards and a lifetime dedicated to music, Cray makes each song an unforgettable experience, with hits like “I Forgot To Be Your Lover” and “My Baby Likes To Boogaloo.”

Mac Powell

Mac Powell co-founded the Christian rock band Third Day, selling over 10 million albums throughout its nearly three-decade career, earning four GRAMMY Awards, and more. Since Third Day’s farewell tour, Mac released his debut solo Christian album, New Creation, in 2021, which landed at No. 1 on the Top Christian & Gospel Album Chart, followed by his most recent album released in 2024, I Love Jesus. Powell is known for his hits like “River of Life” and “God of Wonders.”

Michael Carbonaro: Lies on Stage

Being juried into the show is a notable achievement, with a rigorous selection process that results in an engaging and diverse exhibition. The featured work highlights photography’s unique ability to capture emotion, tell stories, and transform everyday moments into extraordinary art. Over the years, awards have recognized both emerging talents and seasoned professionals, honoring a wide range of creative expression and technical excellence in the field.”

Talkin’ Sports

Join us for sports talk, coffee, and treats provided by our Modoc’s Market. Rick Harness, Steve McClure, Bill Barrows, and Jim Landrum previously broadcasted sports coverage on Oldies 105.9 but will be broadcasting in-person at the Museum during the third Thursday of every month! This August the guys will discuss the The Wabash Athletic Association and its history with Pete Jones. “Talkin’ Sports” will take place from 10 to 11am on Thursday, August 21st. This is a free event brought to you by the Wabash County Museum.

Heather Allen Hoover will share exciting updates on the new permanent home of the living history event and efforts to rebuild the largest live-action War of 1812 reenactment. This presentation promises insight, stories, and inspiration. Free admission, with reservations required due to limited seating.
