Wabash County Museum Thursday Parlay

Wabash Community Event

The Wabash County Museum is excited to introduce a new program for history lovers called “The Thursday Parlay.” The Thursday Parlay is an in-person speakers’ series with a different guest speaker and topic each month. Each meeting will begin with donuts, coffee and conversation from 10 – 10:30 am followed by some Museum updates and then our featured speaker from 10:30 – 11:30 am in the Porter Room at the Museum.

On February 2nd, Guest speaker Tom Snyder will share “The History of Old Somerset.” Tom grew up in Somerset, Indiana, and witnessed firsthand its relocation to make way for the Mississinewa Reservoir and its rebirth as new Somerset. Tom’s father, Fred Snyder, was instrumental in the moving of the town. Tom served in the army in Vietnam from 1968-1970, and then worked for the Army Corps of Engineers until 2006. In many ways, Tom’s life came full circle from growing up in Somerset to helping to manage the reservoirs that cover his childhood home.
