Winter Gala

Wabash Community Event

Get rid of the winter blues at the 17th Annual Winter Gala, sponsored by Wabash Tri Kappa. The event will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Heartland REMC building, 350 Wedcor Drive. The fun evening consists of Dinner catered by “Black Tie Catering” from Warsaw, Indiana; a one of a kind Dessert Auction, hosted by Auctioneer, Brian Evans; Dancing to the tunes of D.J. Smitty and a cash bar from Market Street Grill. Grab your friends and come out for a great time. Suite Surrender Dinner Theater

Wabash Area Community Theater presents Suite Surrender a farce by Michael McKeever. It’s 1942, and the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel is under seige as two of Hollywood’s biggest divas vie for the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres, and one pampered little lap dog round out this hilarious riot of a love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.
Menu includes:

– Cornbread & Buttermilk Biscuits
– Smothered Pork Chops
– Glazed Carrots
– Twice Baked Potato
– Fudge Brownies

Self-defense Workshop at the YMCA

Learn the basic skills necessary to protect yourself in difficult situations. This 90 minute class will teach you how to be aware of your surroundings, effective but easy to remember moves in case of an attack, and give you some peace of mind.
Instructor Carri (Dials) Williams structures the class so that people of all ages and abilities can learn self-defense techniques that will build confidence and skills to keep you safe.

Join us at the Museum on the first Thursday of March for coffee, donuts, and conversation before this month’s speaker, Sarah Siders-Bitzel shares about the history of the Miami Indians in our area. This event is FREE but we encourage RSVPs at wabashmuseum.org.

Sarah was born and raised in Peru, IN, and is the daughter of G. Rex Siders & Nancy (Hammond) Siders. During her childhood, she attended a myriad of traditional events with
her grandmother, Lora E. (Marks) Siders who served as the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana (MNI) Tribal Secretary for over40 years, as well as Tribal Historian.
She is a member of the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana (MNI), serving as Mongosa Clan Grandfather Representative Tribal Council since 2002 and as MNI Tribal Secretary since 2003. She also serves on the MNI Language Committee, MNI Culture Committee, Godfroy Cemetery Committee, Clayton Cemetery Committee, MNI Museum Committee,
MNI Foundation Board, Days at the Pillars Committee, and a founding member of the MNI Women’s Council.Sarah currently resides in Peru with her husband, John, and is employed by the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana.

Yoga Flow Class: All Skill Levels Welcome

An instructor from Fusion Yoga, Fort Wayne travels to teach a yoga flow class for all levels of participants. It is held upstairs in the studio of Wabash Valley Dance Theater (58 W. Canal St. Wabash, IN).

It is $20 drop-in or $60 monthly fee. You can pay cash or online at www.wabashvalleydance.org.
