Justin Johnson: Elegies of Unrest

Wabash Community Event

War and conflict in the Middle East have profoundly impacted Justin’s motivation. The destruction of antiquity and the suffering of religious communities and minorities inspire his abstract works, which aim to “describe the indescribable.” Influenced by Robert Motherwell’s “Elegies to the Spanish Republic,” his art reflects on the constant state of war and the silence of victims. His hope is that these works will gently urge the audience to understand the greater world and reflect on these tragedies. On display mon-fri 8am-5pm.

Karen Wehr, Daleena Bailey & Jerry Wade in Concert

Wabash Community Event

Jerry Wade, Dalenna Bailey, and Karen Wehr each bring their unique talents to the music scene, captivating audiences with their distinct sounds and compelling performances.

Jerry Wade’s lifelong passion for music began before his earliest memories, ignited by the magic of iconic legends and the sound of records filling his home. From childhood days of dancing to The Beatles on “The Ed Sullivan Show” to joining neighborhood bands and leading dynamic acts like Trax, Wade has devoted his life to exploring and expressing music in all its forms. He initially started with private drum lessons on the snare drum and played in a baton and drum corps before purchasing his first drum set in 1972. Even during his time as the lead vocalist for Trax, he continued to embrace his drumming passion, eventually returning to the drums when he reformed with some former bandmates 35 years later as part of 35 Trax. This blend of experiences in both vocals and drumming has shaped Wade’s unique musical journey.

Daleena Bailey’s journey—transitioning from school choirs to leading roles in local bands—has crafted a unique sound that blends raw emotion with years of hard-earned experience. Deeply inspired by Martina McBride, whose powerful voice and presence left a lasting impression on her, Bailey’s credentials include opening for celebrated acts like Josh Turner and Jason Aldean. Now back on stage, after a break from the industry, her heartfelt vocals explore themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience, delivered with a voice that is both haunting and uplifting. This captivating sound reflects a deep-rooted love for the musical traditions of the Midwest.

Meanwhile, Karen Wehr is a seasoned singer-songwriter whose musical roots run deep in the heart of Indiana. Growing up on a 1970s farm, she absorbed the sounds of classic rock and country, which now merge beautifully with her soaring, smooth vocals. Throughout her more than 30-year career, Wehr has enchanted audiences with riveting acoustic sets and electrifying group performances as part of “Karen Wehr & Friends.” Her credentials include notable performances at “Rockin’ The Hall of Fame” at the Eagles Theater in Wabash and opening for celebrated acts like Lita Ford of The Runaways and The Little River Band. With the release of her debut EP “Here In The Country,” Wehr’s empowering and heartfelt lyrics continue to resonate with listeners. Her authentic stage presence and unwavering dedication to her craft make her an unforgettable act and a true testament to the enduring spirit of Midwest music.

Together, these three artists not only offer a diverse array of musical styles but also create an enriching concert experience that resonates deeply with a wide range of listeners, leaving a lasting impression.
