Liminal: Indiana in the Anthropocene

Wabash Community Event

Liminal: Indiana in the Anthropocene is a meditative aerial film that illustrates our state as a microcosm of this new planetary epoch. Society is accelerating into the Anthropocene where our relationship with the Earth is one of conquest, dominance and manipulation. This new epoch encapsulates the world as human civilization fundamentally distorts ecological and planetary systems. It is incessant and expansive motion, a profound generation of power, endless extraction and nonstop movement of materials all fed into a global metabolism. The byproduct is continuous dumping, pollution and transformation. And yet, encased within the Anthropocene’s vast tentacles, we find it difficult to comprehend the unnerving transitions of this new world. The immensity of the Anthropocene’s broad signatures that span continents make it both ubiquitous and opaque. What if we could compress it into a defined space to better visualize and perceive it globally and locally?

Wabash Community Event

Goosebumps: After moving to a new small town, teenage Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) meets the beautiful girl next door, Hannah (Odeya Rush). But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling “Goosebumps” series. There is a reason why Stine is so strange: he is a prisoner of his own imagination, the monsters that his books made famous are real and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town. It’s up to Stine, Zach, Hannah, and Zach’s friend Champ (Ryan Lee) to put all the monsters back in their books.
Little Shop Horrors: Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
