The Make-Believe Spurs
Wabash Community Event
Based in Marquette, Michigan, the Make-Believe Spurs have been playing sparkly Alt-Folk and Americana together since 2022. Their intent is to share kindness, love, and magic through music. Major influences include The Band, the Black Keys, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Nathaniel Rateliff. Their sound and setup is versatile, ranging from close-knit harmonies to electric romps for the dance floor. Performing close to 200 shows a year, they tour throughout the United States, but primarily focus on the Great Lakes region. Since forming, they have performed at venues like Cedar Point, the Black Squirrel Bluegrass and Americana Festival, Albion College, Hiawatha Music Co-Op, and many others. Brian Wallen won 2nd place in the International Blues Challenge, and is an avid coffee drinker and iced tea enthusiast. Molly Wallen is a classically trained vocalist with experience in opera, and also an expert at crossword puzzles and crochet. Mavis Farr studied West African drums and percussion at Oakland University, makes magic as a silversmith and jeweler, and loves stamps. All three share a passion for hats, boots, thrifted fashion, and rescue dogs.
