Click your heels together tres veces and take a transformative journey with this salsa, merengue, and Mexican folk-infused bi-lingual musical inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Dora, a contemporary Latine teenager, struggles with her family’s ideas about tradition and dreads her impending quinceañera. But when she gets swept away to a strange new land, she learns how to celebrate her unique rhythm and embrace her cultural identity. This performance is easy to follow for both those fluent in (or learning) Spanish, and those who are not. Student matinees are held during the school day as field trip opportunities, but are open to the public as well.

Join us at the Museum on the first Thursday of March for coffee, donuts, and conversation before this month’s speaker, Sarah Siders-Bitzel shares about the history of the Miami Indians in our area. This event is FREE but we encourage RSVPs at wabashmuseum.org.

Sarah was born and raised in Peru, IN, and is the daughter of G. Rex Siders & Nancy (Hammond) Siders. During her childhood, she attended a myriad of traditional events with
her grandmother, Lora E. (Marks) Siders who served as the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana (MNI) Tribal Secretary for over40 years, as well as Tribal Historian.
She is a member of the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana (MNI), serving as Mongosa Clan Grandfather Representative Tribal Council since 2002 and as MNI Tribal Secretary since 2003. She also serves on the MNI Language Committee, MNI Culture Committee, Godfroy Cemetery Committee, Clayton Cemetery Committee, MNI Museum Committee,
MNI Foundation Board, Days at the Pillars Committee, and a founding member of the MNI Women’s Council.Sarah currently resides in Peru with her husband, John, and is employed by the Miami Nation of Indians of the State of Indiana.

Featuring a dozen musicians, Pink Martini performs its multilingual repertoire around the world. As bandleader Thomas Lauderdale describes, “Pink Martini is a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure. If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we’d be that band.”

The Winery Dogs

The Winery Dogs are Richie Kotzen, former member of Poison and Mr. Big; Billy Sheehan, known for playing with Steve Vai and David Lee Roth; and Mike Portnoy, original drummer of the bands Dream Theater, Flying Colors, and Adrenaline Mob. The supergroup is influenced by the classic sounds of Led Zeppelin, Cream, and Jimi Hendrix, as well as newer artists such as Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and the Black Crowes.

With more than 300 shows scheduled each year, Mike Almon has been playing guitar and writing music since he was 14. This year he plans to release his first studio-recorded album “Had a Good Run” featuring a mix of his originals, along with two bonus track parodies “Last Fence” and “Detour Land.”
