Putting fresh, local food first at the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market

SNAP/EBT users can shop eligible items from more than 15 vendors

In its 16th season, the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market continues to accept SNAP/EBT benefits to provide all local families the opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown produce. This year, SNAP customers who shop at the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market are able to double the amount of benefits redeemed for free through the Double Up Indiana Program.

What is SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)?

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is a federally funded program administered by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture that provides food assistance to low and no income individuals and families. To learn more, apply for SNAP benefits, etc., click here.

How to Redeem in Three Easy Steps:

  1. Visit our Market Information booth to scan your HoosierWorks EBT card.
  2. Tell the Market Coordinator how much you would like to redeem

(PRO TIP: You can also ask the Market Coordinator to check your SNAP balance.)

When purchasing eligible items at vendor booths, pay for the items with SNAP CA$H vouchers. The vouchers come in $1 increments. No change is given. Vouchers expire on the last day of the 2023 season, September 30, 2023.

But WAIT- there’s more! Our Market is proud to partner with Double Up Indiana to offer SNAP Incentives.

In 2023, the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market received a $5,000 grant from Double Up Indiana for operations and incentives toward the 2023 market season. Double Up Indiana is a program that provides SNAP customers extra incentives to purchase fruits and vegetables when they use their SNAP/EBT card. This allows local families to purchase fresh, healthy food at affordable prices while also supporting local farmers and local economic growth!

How does Double Up work?

For every $1 spent in SNAP at the market, customers can receive a matching $1 in Double Up incentives to buy fruits and vegetables at the market. Each customer is limited to receiving a matching $20 per day in Double Up incentives. This means that when you redeem SNAP at the Downtown Wabash Farmers Market, we match your SNAP CA$H amount with equal Double Up Bucks to spend.

When purchasing eligible items at vendor booths, pay for the items with Double Up Bucks vouchers. The vouchers come in $1 increments. No change is given. Vouchers expire on the last day of the 2023 season, September 30, 2023.

What products are Eligible to purchase with Double Up?

Double Up Bucks can only be spent on fruits, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms and edible plant starts.

The Downtown Wabash Farmers Market has great support from its community and offering programs like SNAP & Double Up Indiana is how we return that support.
