Meet Mikka Hunt, Executive Director of Downtown Wabash, Inc.
Mikka Hunt serves as the Executive Director of Downtown Wabash, Inc., bringing both passion and proven experience to the role. She began her journey with DWI as Events Manager, where she quickly became a driving force behind the organization’s community engagement, and growing visibility. Her leadership, creativity, and deep commitment to downtown’s success naturally led her into the director position.
As Executive Director, Mikka works closely with business owners, community partners, volunteers, and city leaders to advance economic vitality, strengthen partnerships, and champion the continued growth of Downtown Wabash.
Outside of her work with DWI, Mikka is a proud wife and mom of two. Her love for family and community fuels her dedication to making Downtown Wabash a vibrant place for businesses to thrive and families to gather.

Favorite part about Downtown Wabash: What I love most about Downtown Wabash is its walkability and the natural sense of connection it creates. Everything is just steps away shops, restaurants, events, and neighbors. Making it easy to gather, explore, and truly feel part of the community.
Favorite memory in Downtown Wabash: My favorite memory in Downtown Wabash was attending my very first Farmers Market and First Friday event. There was such a special energy in the air, you could feel everyone’s stress melt away as neighbors, families, and friends gathered together. It was a beautiful reminder of how our downtown brings people together to relax, connect, and simply enjoy life.
Favorite event in Downtown Wabash: One of my favorite events was Trick or Treat Extravaganza in 2025. The turnout was incredible, and seeing so many families fill the downtown in costumes and celebration was truly amazing. The energy, excitement, and community spirit on display made it a night to remember.
Favorite season in Downtown Wabash: My favorite season is Summer, Downtown Wabash comes to life. We have many fun events and everyone is out enjoying life together.

Annie Weitzel, Communications Manager of Downtown Wabash, Inc.
Annie Weitzel serves as the Communications Manager for Downtown Wabash, Inc., where she brings creativity, energy, and a passion for storytelling to the organization’s outreach efforts. New to the role, Annie is excited to help amplify the voices of downtown businesses, promote community events, and highlight the momentum happening throughout Downtown Wabash.
As a small business owner herself, Annie understands firsthand the dedication, challenges, and rewards that come with running a business. She is especially passionate about supporting fellow entrepreneurs and helping local businesses grow and thrive.
Outside of work, Annie is a proud mom of two active kids, who keep her busy with sports and activities. She has been married for 14 years and deeply values family and community. The same values that inspire her work in strengthening and celebrating Downtown Wabash.

Favorite part about Downtown Wabash: My favorite part about Downtown Wabash is getting to know the business owners. Learning about their goals, their plans, and the passion that drives them. There’s something incredibly inspiring about hearing their stories and seeing their dreams come to life. I especially love welcoming new businesses to town and supporting them. Watching our downtown continue to grow and evolve through local entrepreneurship is truly rewarding.
Favorite memory in Downtown Wabash: My favorite memory in Downtown Wabash is the first time our family attended Trick or Treat Extravaganza nine years ago. The excitement, and seeing the streets filled with families created such a special moment for us. It quickly became more than just an event, it became a family tradition that we look forward to every single year.

Favorite season in Downtown Wabash: I LOVE Fall, cozy sweaters, yummy food, and great decorations and there’s no better place to enjoy it all than in Downtown Wabash.
